ON THE MOON.

Did
you know that
everyone thinks I only
fly my reindeers on Christmas Eve? Well
that is not true because, I always take them out for their daily exercise by
taking the Elves for rides. Now,
I will tell you a story about the day we all went for such a flight
and got lost!
I can still remember the day, it was July 21st
1969, and as it was
summertime, the elves wanted to fly down to Florida to visit Disney
World, and play with the children. As
I hitched up the sligh, I noticed Rudolph was not feeling very well so, I asked
the
new reindeer Ronald to be at the front. It was to be his first time
to lead the way, and as we all climbed on board, with the Elves sitting where
the presents would usually be, off we went, singing songs, and telling jokes,
and having a wonderful time!
Now in those days I didn’t need to contact air traffic
control for permission to take off but, with everyone singing and laughing, and
having such a good time, I forgot to watch where I was going, and so Ronald just
kept going higher and higher and higher! All
of sudden, it was so dark that we could not see where we were going! “Oh dear,
if only we had Rudolf with us,” I thought to myself, his shiney red nose would
have guided us home, but instead we just kept going higher, and higher, and
higher until, all of sudden BUMP!
I looked up and
I could see planet earth. My
goodness we were on the Moon! I sat
there on my sleigh with the elves, thinking should I step down?
It was only one small step for Santa but one giant leap for the Elves!
Just then we were startled by a voice! “Hello, hello, hello,” we heard. “Who is there?”
I asked. “I am Marvin the Moon Man” came the reply, and just then he
appeared from behind a rock. He was a cute, friendly little fellow and so I
shook his hand. “It IS the man in
the moon” I cried excitedly,
“I am very pleased to meet you! I
am Santa and these are my elves, and we have lost our way!”
Marvin kindly said, “do not worry, you are the first visitors I have
had from Planet Earth but I will show you how to get back home.”
I then told Marvin that I was Santa Claus and how every year I
bring presents to the children of the world.
“I’ve got a family too!” exclaimed Marvin, “come back to my house
and meet them.” So, off we went
over rocks and dunes to his Moon House!
When I got there, I told his children that if they were good girls
and boys, I would come back at Christmas with my sleigh, and bring lots of
presents for the Moon family, and reminded them that everybody needs a family,
especially at Christmas.
Time passed so quickly, we were having such a great time on the
Moon, and we even had a party before flying back home to the Nothe Pole to tell
Rudoplh about our great adventure.
So Boys and Girls, if you look to the sky and you see a
sleigh fly on Christmas Eve, you may just see Santa heading to the moon to
deliver the presents for Marvin’s Family. Then, while you are sleeping, I will
fly back to Planet Earth and deliver your toys!
MERRY
CHRISTMAS SANTA.
